We were fifteen minutes late and they had given our 7 o'clock table away —but they might have one available for us at 10 pm. Its popularity can't be the simple, unobtrusive, beige decor or the friendly, but slightly incompetent service. It certainly is not a dress-up restaurant, the staff wears "frayed" Madewell jeans. So it must be the food—and we love it. Nouvelle fish dishes dominate the menu. Sides must be purchased separately and are equally nouvelle and delicious, such as our favorite "roasted hearts of palm".

Hours: Lunch, Thursday - Sunday 12 pm - 3 pm; Dinner, Tuesday - Thursday 5 pm - 10 pm (Friday & Saturday to 11 pm), Sunday 12 pm - 8 pm.

Prices: Dinner, burgers and sandwiches $12 - $22, entrees $15 - $32, sides $4 - $10; wine by the glass $7 - $16.

Size: seats 46 inside (plus stools for 12), seats for 8 outside (summer).
