When you are ready for a perky twist to Italian cuisine, try this charming enotecca, named after co-owner Marc Tessitore's wife, Vanessa. Intimate, with glowing candles and low light. The main part of the restaurant is lively and noisy. A quieter, romantic space, with seating for 10, is at the back of the restaurant. We were delighted to find the service swift and attentive. Bruschettas and panini are featured, you can even have a panini with Nutella and bananas for dessert. We are fond of starting with the prosciutto (ricotta and figs) bruschetta followed by the linguine con vongole. Be sure to reserve on weekends.

Hours: Dinner, Sunday - Thursday, 5:30 pm - 10 pm; Friday and Saturday, 5:30 pm - 11 pm; Sunday, 11 am - 3 pm.

Prices: Beginning courses, bruschetta $3 each, Panini $8 each, salads, $12 - $15, main courses, $17 - $38; Wine by the quartino (about 1/3 bottle) $11 - $19.
